"A cell is a tiny bit of universe surrounded by a membrane."--Graham Walker M.I.T.

* Organelle Lab-- Use a grid.  Find a picture of an actual cell, not a cartoon.  Estimate the area of the picture of the cell.  Estimate the % each organelle occupies.  Due in class 11/28/17

DNA, RNA, & Proteins Notes

In class 11/30/17

*Take notes, especially of slide 21

* In class on 12.12.17 we watched clips from the movie GATTACA.  This movie brings to light some thought provoking ideas about the future of genetics.  Watch and write about what you think.  Parents be advised the full movie is rated PG 13.  If you would prefer an alternative assignment, research a bioethical dilemma and report your thoughts.

Body Systems Project

1.30.18

Body Systems Project.  Each student will be in a group.  Each group will be responsible for defining and presenting to the class all of the terms within their chosen system.  All presentations must be reviewed by Mr. Boom prior to being presented before the class. Students may choose which medium they utilize to present to the class.  Presentations may be PowerPoints, posters, skits, interpretive dances, etc. Due Feb 5th at the beginning of class.  Students will be given Tuesday & Thursday in class to work.

Body Systems Key Terms

2.16.18

Boom's Book of Biology 2.0.  In the beginning of the year, students were tasked with creating a book of the internal and external anatomy of the different organisms we would encounter during the year.  Students were told not to get rid of this book, because we would be adding on to it.  In conjunction with the organ systems project, we will be completing Boom's Book of Biology.  If they have not done so already the Book of Biology organ systems and life cycles sections will be due on February 16th.  Students will have a limited amount of class time to complete this.  Students may work together to help each other complete this assignment.
